Hi, I’m Scot Cockroft.

When I founded Sigma Mergers and Acquisitions back in 2003, I had sold my business the year prior.

Now, that can sound good, but let me tell you, back in 2003, it was not easy to sell a business. Not that I’m saying in modern day times it’s easy to sell a business, but back then I interviewed broker after broker after broker, and no one was interested in actually seeing the value that my business brought to the table.

Did you know that when I went to market that no one was interested in my business until I sat down myself? Yes, I had signed up with a business broker to sell my business, but I myself sat down and decided to look at my business from the outside and think about, “Why would someone want to buy my business and pay the price that I’m looking for?” You see, in this process, I actually did not realize I was creating a system that would literally change, not only my life, but many business owners’ lives since.

See, while Sigma’s helped over 600 business owners sell their business for the highest possible price, a lot of what we did went back to the struggle and to the fight of selling my own business. So I was determined that opening my own office, a business brokerage and mergers and acquisitions, I was going to do it different. How was I going to do it? I was going to look at your business exactly the same way you look at your business.

I was going to see things about your business that may or may not be on your tax return, on your profit and loss statements. Now, let’s be candid. Let’s be honest. Those things are important. What’s on your tax return and what’s on your profit and loss statement, it affects your value, but you know what also affects your value is the intrinsic thing that makes your company special, the intrinsic value that makes your company different than your competitors.

Now, how are those things changing the ROI that a buyer will achieve? The return on investment that a buyer is going to get because they bought your business? I am passionate about this process of helping you sell your business.
